Readings: Brain-Based Learning

Teaching with the Brain in Mind, 2nd Edition by Eric Jensen. Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development, 2005.
* Best introduction on how the new brain-based findings can be applied in our classrooms.

Making Up The Mind: How the Brain Creates our Mental World by Chris Frith. Wiley-Blackwell Publishing, 2007.
* I can't remember a book that made my hair stand on end. This one did just that.

The MRI research shows that we (our minds) hand over a wide range of responses to parts of our brain that don't involve our consciousness. Not only do we not know why we do certain things, we aren't even aware they take place!

A revolutionary book. Neuro-science is our next frontier.

How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer. Houghton, Mifflin, Harcourt, 2009.
* Applies recent MRI research to our decision processes. Not sure if every conclusion is correct, but it consolidates an enormous amount of information. Very stimulating.

Why Choose This Book: How We Make Decisions by Read Montague. Dutton, 2006.
* More on untangling our decision process.
